The first Normal School in Oneonta was completed August 21, 1889. It burned on February 15, 1894. The new building, designed by the Albany architect Albert Fuller, of the firm of Fuller and Wheeler, was dedicated on December 15, 1894. Affectionately known as "Old Main", the building was razed in 1977. It was a gorgeus example of Romanesque architecture, with a grand total of 160 rooms.
